The love that kills - Dambisa of Moyo

Omette di rilevare come essa non sia only useful to the corrupt elites of countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the plethora of actors involved in various capacities in the Western business aid. The constant flow, powerful and unstoppable today, international aid to Africa was an iron fist covered in soft velvet with which Western nations have continued to pursue the protection and exploitation of the colonial era. Asian nations, which already had or had already had economic infrastructure and financial functions are managed or are managing to free himself of the protection.

If the identification of the problem is crystal clear beyond the omission, and displayed with care and ruthlessness, some concern me leave the range of proposed solutions. The confidence that Dr. Moyo puts mechanisms (diversified and very sharply selected for more) indicates that the market is obvious and natural in a former World Bank consultant and former Goldman-Sachs, but equally it is excessive. It 'true that hardly anything could be worse than the continuation of the status quo , and probably some sort of intensive care is required to save from certain death the comatose patient. The same author actually seems to be aware that what is proposed is not the holy grail , but now long overdue and vital medicine for survival is just not much more. When will the dying out of the coma, that is when its parasitic ruling class has been decimated, limited corruption, put in a position to work a minimum of infrastructure (both productive and social) necessary for the development - when all this is the case, then can and will return to discuss. Africans will have to do it, that is.

Ah, one thing Dr. Moyo is absolutely right: if the West will continue playing around with shit in a few decades China, with its pragmatic approach to the African economy and is working very well in the best of our foster African economic development (albeit late in the approach that India seems determined to follow) will wipe out Western influence in Africa. And Africa is an ark of resources ...

Zepp Antenna Wrong Book To Buy

Uribe appointed a member of the committee that will investigate 'on attachment to the Freedom Flotilla.

L’Organizzazione United Nations has designated the outgoing President of Colombia Alvaro Uribe, whose government was marked by allegations of violations of human rights as a member of an international commission to investigate the Israeli army against the Flotilla on attachment that would bring help humanitarian in the Gaza Strip. The secretary generals of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, seen as a step forward that Tel Aviv, after two months of intensive diplomatic efforts, has accepted an investigation into the events. Nell'assalto armed Israeli attack on the flotilla, which departed from Turkey to Gaza, were killed nine Turkish human rights activists, provoking international condemnation. From different parts of world military action was condemned and described as a violation of human rights, especially since the facts are in international waters. Ban Ki-moon wanted the investigation would help to lower tensions in the region. "The creation of this committee will have a positive effect on improving relations between Israel and Turkey and at the same time will bring a positive impact in the peace process in the Middle East," he said.

The commission will investigate the facts, will be captained by former New Zealand Prime Minister Geoffrey Palmer, as president, and the representative of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, as vice president.

After the announcement of the creation of the Committee, the UN spokesman, Martin Nesirky said that it will be made by a representative of Turkey and one of Israel, for a total of only four members. For many analysts, the authority of the Committee is limited, therefore the spokesman said that its members will be those who will need to decide whether to call witnesses or to visit the area to carry out their mandate. "The secretary general made it clear that an investigation will be impartial and reliable, in line with international standards," he assured Nesirky.

Compared to the election of Uribe as Vice-Chairman of the Committee, argues Nesirky that "the Secretary-General looks forward to Geoffrey Palmer and the outgoing president of Colombia to perform this task in an impartial manner. They will not do anything more. " During the eight years of Uribe's government, there have been many complaints of violation of human rights in Colombia. In fact, a report by the International Committee of the Red Cross, published in April this year showed that only in this Latin American country in 2009 were committed some 800 violations of humanitarian law.

Violations "most worrying" according to the Red Cross, are summary executions, or so-called "false positives", the civilians that are presented by the army as Colombian guerrillas killed in combat in order to show results to their superiors and to obtain benefits. In addition, a special rapporteur of the United Nations on May 27 reported that cases of extrajudicial executions in Colombia has reached 98.5 percent of impunity and persistent "serious problems" of security in the country. During Uribe's government also has ordered the Armed Forces of Colombia, the illegal construction of a military strike in Ecuadorian territory on the pretext of dismantling a temporary camp of the guerrillas. These events led to the breakup of the relationship between Quito and Bogota, which have only recently begun a negotiating table to reconstruct the relations diplomats.

Israel military ally of Colombia

Israel is one of the leading countries that provide military equipment to Colombia. The Colombian Air Force has reported that it had received three aircraft purchased by Israel as part of a program of modernization of weaponry brought by the government of Alvaro Uribe. According to the study, Colombia in 2009 for the military spending to 3.7 percent of its gross domestic product, ranking first among the countries of the continent. In 2008 the Government of Colombia has concluded a contract with Israel for $ 165 million for the purchase of 13 fighter-type Kafir and upgrading of 11 others in the fleet.
