Between March and April of 2010 I had the opportunity to spend some time in the village of At Tuwani, a few kilometers south of Hebron in the West Bank.
Ho (with) lived in this small village on the edge of the Negev desert thanks to the availability given to me by 'Operation Dove organization.
I got to live (although for too short a time) the injustices and abuses that the Palestinian people suffering for decades.
I saw with my own eyes the children of the village of Tuba to be attacked by Jewish settlers, armed on horseback, on their way to school Tuwani.
I have seen the demolition orders pending from the gates of the Israeli army of Palestinian homes built sul loro territorio ancestrale. Ho visto anche i bulldozer.
Ho visto i campi di grano delle famiglie del villaggio bruciati dai settlers e il bestiame avvelenato dei contadini.
Ho visto il terrorismo quotidiano di cui sono vittime decine di famiglie di agricoltori colpevoli di non volersene andare dalla loro Terra.
Ho sentito i racconti degli anziani e visto le donne della comunità fare da scudo ai bambini di fronte ai militari israeliani che volevano arrestarli; erano colpevoli di avere rubato una manciata di ciliegie dai campi dei coloni.
Ho visto le colonie espendersi ad un ritmo vertiginoso.
E ho visto soprattutto la tenacia e l'orgoglio di un popolo, rappresentato da un piccolo villaggio sulle colline a sud di Hebron, peacefully resist violence and oppression of the Israeli army and Jewish fundamentalists. I saw David
face Goliath.
The video below is a trailer for a documentary filmed in Tuwani and Jerusalem by three guys from the collective Videofactory SMK (Nicola Zambelli, Andrea 'Paco' Mariani and Francesco Pistilli) accompanied by the volunteers of Operation Dove.
The documentary will be released in Spring 2011.
